Dostana (2008) – movie review:

Published by sanket under movie review Edit This

Karan Johar produces the film Dostana in the memory of his late father Yash Johar. The director of this film is a 32 year old guy Tarun Mansukhani. The rocking stars Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra, Bobby Deol and Kiron Kher are casted in this movie. Shahrukh Khan and Shilpa Shetty give a special appearance in this movie. It is a simple story of three friends Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra where a love triangle is formed between them. Both like Priyanka Chopra but things went complicated because of a single lie of them being gay. The music is youthful and fast.

Rock On - Review

Published by sanket under movie review Edit This

Rock On, the latest from the shelves of Farhan Akhtars cupboard, is a movie that features a rock band that initially breaks apart, and ten years later, get together again because of fate’s twists and turns. Rock On portrays friendship almost the same way Farhan Akhtar did in Dil Chahta Hai, but somehow, it strikes the right chord. The film clearly shows Farhan Akhtar’s ability to make magic infront of the camera as well. Arjun Rampal also shows some recognisable maturity in his role, and does a great job. Purab is cute as usual, while Prachi Desai seems to have a break in this flick, carrying off Farhan’s sensitive and loving wife with flair and ease.Overall, the movie, with it’s great background scores and real life script really hits a home run. The movie is worth more than one watch, and can make you contemplative when you least expect it!

Mumbai Meri Jaan – Review

Published by sanket under movie review Edit This

Mumbai Meri Jaan is a movie that, against popular expectations in Bollywood, does not deal with the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai that shocked the whole nation and rocked the city, but how the bombs made their marks and impact on the public. This movie deals with the aftermath of the blasts in 2006 and depicts how five different people were affected by the blasts and how life changes for them. The five stories are not greatly connected with each other, again, opposing popular belief, so Nishikant Kamat seems to have done his bit over here. While Paresh Rawal-Vijay Maurya, Irrfan Khan and Kay Kay Menon seem to have roles that greatly impact the audience, Soha Ali Khan’s journalist role seems to have gone a bit overboard at times. Madhavan does great justice to his role, and stands out at many times thanks to a compelling
performance in spite of a comparably smaller story for his character. Mumbai Meri Jaan is a movie that promises a lot more, and Nishikant Kamath has really proved that he is the great director that he was always perceived to be.

Hijack- Review

Published by sanket under movie review Edit This

Latest movie Hijack had made some big promises, what with talented actors like Shine Ahuja and Eesha Deol starring in the film. However, Hijack seems to fall flat on its face numerous times. The movie lacks anything substantial and the talents have been just wasted. The story is about a plane bound for Amritsar that is hijacked by terrorists that land the plane in Chandigarh and demand for release of its militants in exchange for the lives of the passengers.
The movie is apparently a number of Hollywood movies stitched together hurriedly in the hope that the movie would gain some recognition for its difference from the normal, song and dance Bollywood script.
