Former model and Miss World 1994 has a particularly strained relationship with the press and media. And there’s only one reason for it: Salman Khan, her aggressive and powerful ex-boyfriend who just wouldn’t stop.

The steamy relationship, ever since it started on the sets of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, has always been the focus of paparazzi and media, and was touted as one of the best combination of lovers that Bollywood could ever throw up. It was also one of the most problematic of relationships, as everybody found out later. Their relationship faced opposition from religiously grounded political parties, for Aishwarya was a Hindu and Salman Khan, a Muslim. Salman Khan was someone everybody loved, and Aishwarya was turning out to be the country’s pride, and everyone loved to call her the most beautiful woman in the world. Obviously, their relationship was the apple of the media’s eye and the entire country would gobble up anything that was thrown in the papers. What really went on between the two however, is a totally different story. Right from the beginning to the end, the relationship spat out controversy after controversy.
